iPR B³ Brix
Process Refractometer

The iPR compact comes with a measuring range up to 90% Brix (refractive index 1.5200). The stainless-steel housing is equipped with a blue anodized air cooling jacket which protects the electronic components from overheating in process temperatures up to 90°C (194°F). CIP cleaning at the prescribed temperatures is possible when the instrument is switched off.

Customized scales in addition to known standard scales such as Brix, Oechsle, ethylene glycol, sodium chloride, urea, are also available.

The iPR B³ is a fully automatic process refractometer that continuously measures the refractive index and thus the concentration of solids in solution or the mixing ratios of binary or quasi-binary liquid mixtures. The measurement is independent of light intensity from the light-emitting diode (LED) and is free of signal drift, granting high precision and better process control. Colour, turbidity, undissolved particles, or gas bubbles do not affect the measurement.

The iPR B³ replaces the well-known iPR Basic² models. The stand-alone process sensor with integrated electronics falls in the middle of the range of SCHMIDT + HAENSCH process refractometers, between the compact model iPR C² and the full range model iPR FR². The new sensor with a measuring range of up to 90% Brix (1.52 refractive index) is suitable for almost all applications in the food production and pharmaceutical industries, and also for many processes in the fields of mechanical and automotive engineering, and chemistry. The sensor’s stainless steel housing is partially equipped with a blue anodized aluminum air cooling jacket. This cooling jacket protects the electronic components from overheating at process temperatures of up to 80 ° C. CIP cleaning is also possible at the prescribed temperatures but the sensor must be switched off.

The unique design and electronic equipment make it highly flexible and easy to use. The iPR B³ is equipped with two switch outputs to run a connected valve (max. 1A, 24 DC) or relay making it possible to control the cleaning of the measuring prism via a magnet valve.

The iPR B³ process refractometer can be installed in pipelines, mixing tanks, reaction vessels, and storage containers using a wide variety of weld-in flanges. The Schmidt + Haensch VariVent Process Adaptor is recommended for pipeline connectivity as it allows for attachment of a cleaning device for units that require cleaning of the sensor face. An optional cleaning nozzle or an ultrasonic cleaning device is also available.

In addition to known standard scales such as Brix, Oechsle, ethylene glycol, sodium chloride, urea, etc., SCHMIDT + HAENSCH will work with you to develop customer-specific scales.
