UniPol 2020 Polarimeter

The fully automatic digital polarimeter Unipol 2020 is designed for chemical applications and may also be used for purity analysis of food and beverage as well as cosmetics. The resolution of Unipol 2020 conforms to the European and American Pharmacopeia. GLP/GMP conform data can be directly printed or transferred to your PC. In conjunction with the AQUISYS 2 software, all requirements of 21 CFR Part 11 conformity are fulfilled.

The Unipol is a fully automatic digital polarimeter designed for pharmaceutical and chemical applications with a  total measuring range of ± 360 °  divided into individual measuring ranges that can be selected via the menu.

The user-friendly menu structure of the instrument is easily operated with the splash-proof alphanumerical keyboard. The software enables the user to input sample ID-numbers, calculate statistical evaluation, and configure a user-defined printout of the measuring results. The measuring values are shown on the large LCD display.

The standard model is equipped with a 589 nm wavelength. Other wavelengths are available upon request.

Various polarimeter tubes are available for different applications including microtubes for very small sample volumes. A temperature sensor can be connected in the sample chamber (see polarimeter accessories). If polarimeter tubes or quartz control plates with an integrated temperature sensor are used, the current temperature of the sample or quartz is shown on the display.

The resolution of Unipol 2020 is in complete compliance with European and American Pharmacopeia. The measured values are documented in accordance with GLP / GMP when the data is output on the PC or printer. In addition to 1 parallel and 2 serial interfaces, the polarimeter also has a PS2 interface for connecting a barcode reader or a keyboard.

With circular polarimeters, the wavelength can change in the course of time due to the environment and aging. Therefore, regular testing and, if necessary, recalibration of the polarimeter is necessary. Sucrose solutions or quartz control plates (recommended) can be used as test and calibration standards.

Quartz control plates are long-term stable test standards for polarimeters and are recommended by SCHMIDT + HAENSCH. For this purpose, 0.4 to 1.6 mm thin quartz disks are ground with the highest precision perpendicular to the axes and plane-parallel and installed in a stainless steel tube without tension. The sample space of SCHMIDT + HAENSCH polarimeters allows both the vertical displacement of quartz control plates and the free rotation (± 360 °) around its own axis. Rotation is the only way to determine whether the plates are tension-free and enable the polarimeter to be checked in accordance with the implementation regulations (SPS) of international standards such as ICUMSA and OIML.

With the SCHMIDT + HAENSCH (AQUISYS 2008) software the Unipol series polarimeters meet all requirements according to CFR21 part 11 by providing:

Audit Trail function (history logging)
Report generation
Electronic signature
Encrypted electronic data storage and archiving
Data transfer to Excel

Applications:

Polarimetric concentration and purity analysis in food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical industry.
