Thermogravimetric Instrument from Precisa
FULLY AUTOMATED
The TGA thermogravimetric analyzer works completely autonomously once it is loaded and started. This offers the user a new time management option as the thermogravimetric analysis can be run at different time periods that could not previously be used (e.g. at night). By permanently recording the measurements during the entire process and the automatic storage of the final results, the TGA test results are available at any time.
INTUITIVE TOUCH SCREEN CONTROL
prepASH thermogravimetric analyzer features a high-resolution color touch screen (VGA 5.7”) which is simple and easy to use thanks to the language-independent icons. The sample chamber is opened and closed automatically by touching the icon on the screen.
DRY WEIGHT AND ASH
One of the most important parameters in thermogravimetric analysis in testing many materials and substances is the determination of dry weight and ash. This is often time-consuming and has a high error potential when performed traditionally with a drying/muffle oven and precision balance, which can be avoided using Precisa’s TGA thermogravimetric analyzer.
EFFICIENT DAILY ANALYSIS prepASH
With its easy operation, it is a fully automatic analysis system for thermo gravimetric determination of dry weight and ash. The prepASH intelligently unites the functions of a drying oven, muffle oven, analytical balance, and evaluation unit into one system.
SULFATED ASH AS PER PHARMACOPOEIA
Ashing test procedures performed on pharmaceutical, polymer, and food samples frequently involve using sulfuric acid (H2SO4). The hot sulfuric acid vapor released during these procedures is both hazardous to analysts and corrosive to equipment. In addition to these complications, sulfated ashing procedures are typically labor-intensive and time consuming, requiring manual fuming of acid from crucibles. In prepASH® sulfated ashing system, sulfuric acid fumes released from crucibles inside the furnace chamber are continuously removed through a quartz tube connected to a water cooled condenser with a receiving vessel and to the acid scrubber module.
Quality Management Protocol
All 3 prepASH 340 Series thermogravimetric analyzers work autonomously as stand-alone units and offer complete control and documentation. They display the weight loss of each individual sample during the program steps and display these on the color Touch Screen display. Beyond that, all models can be connected through the Ethernet interface to the network and be remotely monitored by means of prepDATA software on the PC. The results are calculated as losses or residuals in respect of weighing-in or pre-interval values (e.g. dry mass). The user may choose between %, ‰, g/kg, g.
User identification with password at different access levels
Hardware/Software and adjusting information printed on each report
Audit Trail
The prepASH 340 series consists of a muffle furnace, an analytical balance, and advanced software using a touch-screen user interface. Weighing curves are recorded over time for each individual test sample. This permits automatic end-point determination and control during the entirety of the drying and ashing process. No additional computer is needed.
Easy method development with prepASH
Definition of temperature profile
Temperature curves can be individually configured and consist of more than 10 freely definable steps (ramping/holding). Temperatures can be set between 50°C to 1000°C. Combustion atmosphere can be varied by choosing the process gas (air, O2, N2).
Setup of the end-point determination
The analysis is finished when all samples have reached a stable weight. The auto-stop criteria can be chosen from 0.1-9.9 mg per 1 minute, 30 minutes, or 60 minutes. Alternatively, the analysis can be stopped at a fixed time.
Selection of results calculation
The results are calculated as losses or residuals in respect of weighing-in or pre-interval values (e.g. dry mass). The user may choose between %, ‰, g/kg, g.
All parameters are saved as individual methods on the prepASH.
Efficient daily analysis in just a few steps with prepASH
1st Step: Method selection and Weighing-in
Select the method for your analysis. Enter your IDs (Name or Number) for your samples and crucibles via the touch screen, keyboard, or barcode reader. Place your crucibles (1 reference + up to 29 samples) into the turn table and start the automatic tare cycle. Then start your weighing-in procedure by putting the samples into the crucibles.
2nd Step: Unassisted / Standalone Analysis
After the weighing-in has been completed, simply press the start button to start your analysis of the selected method. Now that the prepASH has started, it will continue to measure the crucibles until each sample has reached the auto-stop criteria. At the end of the analysis, the prepASH will give an acoustic signal, switch off the heating system, cool down, and open the lid.
3rd Step: Report output
The prepASH is printing out a report according GMP/GLP onto your connected USB or network printer. The report shows all process parameters together with weight curves and the result of each sample. PC software prepDATA helps with extended data evaluation, online monitoring, statistics, and report preparation.
